Tradition
is nothing new to Frado's. This canal-side restaurant and bar has served
patrons in this spot for 35 years, turning a former drive-through restaurant
into a spot that attracts people from all over the peninsula and much
further afield.
Frado's was born
and raised with tradition, and has gained a reputation for delicious,
homemade Italian dishes that has been established through the years,
first by Dean Frado's parents, Mary and the late Tullio Frado, with
Tullio's brothers, Vito and Fred. It's a tradition that Dean and Mary
continue to nurture and that they bring daily to their patrons, with
love and commitment.
The
Riviera room is usually dedicated to special parties (it can accommodate
up to 100 people) and weekend dancing and dining -- the dance floor
is large and can pack in a fair number of bodies. Surrounded by huge
windows, partygoers have a panoramic view of the Welland Canal. It's
a delightful setting. This room is also where lunch is served. The front
dining room has taken on a slightly more formal air, and is reserved
for dinner. The bar, where locals drop in after work or in the evening,
separates the two rooms.
The
main reason people keep returning to Frado's is the food - the traditional
Italian dishes, the homemade pastas and special sauces, the steak and
seafood that the kitchen serves with such expertise and care.
